I consider myself to be rather well informed ( probably am not though ) about movies from the hippie or 70's and backpacking in a foreign land. This is my all time favorite.
Makes me want to live there then. I even make my grandaughter watch it with me almost every night. Does anyone know of movies similar in theme - hippie backpacker traveling.. with or without kids.. thanks so very much

share"Flashback" with Dennis Hopper and Keifer Sutherland. I watched it almost every day for a month! It has this one really sad scene that made me cry, not just when I was watching it, but whenever I thought about it... I didn’t even properly know why. It was weird. It it's SUCH a good movie.

shareYou could try 'Harem'(1985) With Nastassja Kinski. While it's not actually backpacking, it certainly has the flavour of 'Hideous Kinky.'I think you would enjoy it. There is also 'The Sheltering sky' with Debra Winger and John Malkovich, that is about travel in a similar area. You can feel the sun and sand, lovely movie.
