Similarities with Winslet's character in Revolutionary Road - spoilers?

I was struck by the similarities between April and Julia--mostly because of the Kate Winslet link. I saw Hideous Kinky after RR, and kept thinking this would be April Wheeler if the movie was set in the 70s rather than the 50s. April's desire to run off to Paris despite the dislocation it will cause in her children's lives - not to mention the fact that she doesn't know the language, has unrealistic expectations about finding a paying job, and has romantic and unrealistic notions about the culture -- is similar to Julia's. Both characters are endearingly vulnerable but a frightening combination of naive and strong-willed. Did anyone else have that reaction?
