Ordered this movie on netflix so it will be a couple of days, I could not help wondering where were the girls father.

Winslet was not married to him. She was his bit on the side and it seemed he cared little about the girls.

How did you come to understand he didn't care for them. I didn't remember Any thing being said about him.
