DRIVING ME NUTS - a song from the film?

OK, don't think I'm stupid, but there was a song from this movie that I loved, but I don't know what it is and I can't remember any lyrics. And NO, it wasn't on the soundtrack (I checked). It wasn't "Horse With No Name", either, which was in the film but not on the soundtrack. And it wasn't a score song, it was a sixties song I think and the only part I remember is a "Yeah" in the chorus. Yes, I'm dumb. Does anyone know what else was in the film?

Here are the soundtrack songs (again, the song I'm looking for is NOT included here):

1. Here Comes the Sun by Richie Havens
2. Here Comes the Sun - Richie Havens
3. White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
4. World's They Rise and Fall - The Incredible String Band
5. Baba Baba Mektoubi - Jil Jilala
6. Road - Nick Drake
7. Tortoise's Song - Dimi Mint Abba
8. Follow - Richie Havens
9. Hideous Kinky - Kudsi Erguner
10. Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane

PLEASE don't tell me I'm stupid for asking for a song that I can't describe. I know I'm stupid. I may just have to rent the damn movie and watch the end credits?! HELP please!

Marrakesh Express - Crosby Stills & Nash

I'm pretty sure it was used in the film somewhere. It's been a long time since I've seen it, though. Is that the one you're looking for?

reply

There was a Crosby, Stills & Nash song used in the movie, but oddly, it wasn't "Marrakech Express." It was the final song in the film, and was about how constraining and taxing it can be to live a conventional, working life. Unfortunately, I can't remember the title. Not sure if it's the one you want. (p.s. -- just for the record, I thought this was a beautiful movie.)

It's on CSN's first album. Look at this and see if it's familiar to you. ;)

YOU DON'T HAVE TO CRY (2:43)
by Stephen Stills, Gold Hill

In the mornin' when you rise
Do you think of me, and how you left me cryin'?
Are you thinkin' of telephones, and managers,
And where you got to be at noon?
You are living a reality I left years ago
It quite nearly killed me.
In the long run it will make you cry.
Make you crazy and old before your time.
And the difference between me and you.
I won't argue right or wrong,
But I have time to cry, my baby
You don't have to cry,
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry
In the mornin' when you rise
Do you think of me, and how you left me cryin'?
Are you thinkin' of telephones, and managers,
And where you got to be at noon?
You are living a reality I left years ago
It quite nearly killed me.
In the long run it will make you cry.
Make you crazy and old before your time.
And the difference between me and you.
I won't argue right or wrong,
But I have time to cry, my baby
You don't have to cry,
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry
I said cry my baby, you don't have to cry

Thank you. I saw the movie last night and loved that song.

There was a song in the movie not on the soundtrack you listed called "Alone Again Or" by a band apparently called Love. I've known this song for a while becuase a band called The Damned covered it.

The song is probably the one by LOVE called Alone again (i think that's the name of it). Im a LOVE fan and have several of their CDs.
:)

reply

It is Love, The albums called forever changes. It's very good.

The only song I remember is "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", conspicuous because they didn't play "Marrakesh Express"! Was this some cruel joke?

reply

Hear hear! Outside the US the title is Marrakesh Express, and not only did it not feature the song, which is a gimmee, but it actually DID feature Suite Judy Blue Eyes. Wanted to throw myself off the roof!

When you think of garbage, think of Hakim!

reply

This is late, I know, but the song you are looking for is in fact by the band "America" and it's called "A Horse With No Name". I bought the soundtrack too, hoping it would be on there, but they left it off.

reply

The song you are thinking of is called 'Alone again or' by Arthur Lee - great tune.
