Why Have I Never Heard of this Film?

I love ww2 movies, read many ww2 books and consider myself a pretty big fan of the genre, yet why have I never heard of this film...especially since people are saying good things about it, was this movie popular when it came out? I can't remember it at all.

It was made for television (HBO) so it wasn't ever shown in theaters. Also, Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line were both released that same year (1998) and probably overshadowed this film in a very big way.

If you're in the USA, you can get the DVD very cheap... For about $6. It's certainly worth owning for $6. I've probably seen it a total of four times.

Is it in most places like best buy or circuit city? or is it hard to find?

I don't know about Circuit City, but I did see it at Best Buy not too long ago.
