A Great Account of a Forgotten Campaign

This film chronicles the day to day grind of the Hurtgen Forest Campaign from the early fall of 1944 to early 1945. This is a little known, but very important campaign in the history of the Western Front of WW2. It is considered by some historians to be the longest "battle" of the war.

Its little known primarily because it wasn't a glorious victory for America, but rather a brutal battle of attrition that came with very high causalities for the Americans. The Campaign was a series of battles fought in the densely wooded Hurtgen Forest along the German/Belgian border near the Siegfried Line. The dense forests prevented the Americans from using their air power, so it was infantry on infantry fighting.

Fortunately, films such as this one along with several books published in the last few years have made this battle much more well known amongst the general public.
