well, the way I see it is that Mr. B is neither a man or a woman, he/she is a supernatural being with no sex or gender, and apparantly no moral hangups about invading the bedrooms of young boys, either. Also, strangest of all, Mr. B is a salesperson/spokesperson for Conn.

Mr B Is clearly patterned after Peter Pan. And Peter Pan is typically protrayed by women, both because theyre lighter to use on flight rigging, and to play up the androgyny angle. Look at the recent Peter Pan movie, while played by a boy, Peter still posseses decidedly feminine qualities. This is also alluded to, albeit to a lesser degree in the Disney movie, with his wispy thin build.
Another notion is that women are sometimes adressed as "Mr" in some organizations.
Another notion to keep in mind: Just repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax"

Go ahead and try to come up with some scientific explanation for what the hell 'Mr." B's gender is..... I'd say it's just the tradition of casting women to play pre-pubescent boys (Mary Martin as Peter Pan, anyone?!). And for some reason, magical helper-beings tend to be boy characters.
Go figure...
