A Christmas Memory
Does anyone know if there is a dvd or vhs tape available of the Geraldine Page version, with naration by Truman Capote? This was a TV movie from about 1967.

i absolutely adore the geraldine page version. i used to have a copy i recorded from an A&E production which aired about 10 years ago. i too would love to be able to find a copy of this as i misplaced my copy. i should learn not to lend things that i don't want to loose, lol. too bad the patty duke/piper laurie version sounds so bad. seems it could have had potential w/ those two. piper was awesome in the production of the grass harp.
shareI recently found someone selling a pretty decent color recording from the A&E network to DVD-R. Only once, for a a couple of seconds, does the logo appear at the bottom. The quality is great, around an 8.5 out of 10.

There's a VHS version available with Geraldine Page but be forwarned! It is a copy made directly from a B&W TV and the copy is horrendous. Some sites are even claiming this is the original black & white version telecast on ABC in 1966 but the original was and is in color! If you buy this VHS version (sold at a number of sites) you'll be evry disappointed. I was.
We'll just have to wait until ABC gets off its duff and issues this & A Thanksgiving Visitor (both written and narrated by Truman Capote - same characters, too)on DVD.

First and foremost there ARE "legal" copies of ABC's Stage 67 showing of A Christmas Memory, AND IT WAS IN B/W !!!! Yesteryear Video sold me my copy.
I complained about the lack of color and received an explanation.
When this was to be shown at tne Cannes Film Fesitval, it appeared in color.
I have forgotten if they redid the entire production or exactly what occurred.
Some individuals may have taped the B/W version and are trying to sell 3rd or 4th generation copies. I have my "legal" B/W copy from Yesteryear Video (now defunct). In fact, I almost tossed it because I have crystal clear color DVD's of both A Christmas Memory and Thanksgiving Visitor. Perhaps I should list my "legal" YesterYear Video copy on Ebay? The color version was shown here in GA by Channel 24 in Macon back in the early 1980s. So it IS around.
