Recognize that nobody is even talking about this movie. Damn shame.

They should have given both Charles Dutton and Courtney Vance Emmys for this movie!
I found myself drawn to the next to last scene where Vance was begging Dutton to testify that the son was gay to save his life and Dutton refusing.

Even though I already knew how this story ended, I was riveted to the TV. That's good acting, directing and writing. Maybe the subject matter is just too controversial even today - hey, let's face it, intolerance should be part of the US national anthem - and perhaps the way the young man does end up dying is just so grim, maybe the movie is too dark for a lot of people?

Acquaintance I know watch movies only to escape,, hence the popularity of Hollywood dreck. I don't want to look away, I want to always be aware of what is going on in this country. I want to pass that knowledge along. Knowledge is power, yes it is, and positive changes happen because of small actions that gather speed, small positive actions set off by a few people watching films like these.

Very good movie, it is on Showtime Direct. So if you have cable and showtime people should look for it. I wanted to mention this movie was theatrically released for a short time so it would be eligible for a Academy Award. Too bad independent movies at the time were not recognized as they are today.
