The mountain gorillas

I was seven years old when Life in Earth first ran on the BBC and as an animal nerd, then as now, I was enthralled and watched it religiously twice a week (as a prestige series, it was shown twice - these were the days before we could record shows to watch at our leisure). The entire series was and remains brilliant, ahead of its time documentary filmmaking, and Attenborough is marvellous as always. But the scene where he encounters a family of mountain gorillas - who pretty much accept him as a houseguest, stands as one of the most remarkable things I have ever seen on TV. Funny, moving, incredibly powerful stuff - TV history was made. More than forty years on it is still a seminal TV moment.
