Alice's Age?

How old is Alice suppose to be in the film? I've read on the Net 14 but i've seen the film 3 times and still haven't heard that age mentioned. I'm assuming she's 17 because her father says something about "when I was 17". It sounds like one of those "when I was your age" talks. I think I read 17 somewhere on the net also. What do you think?

reply

She says that she's a minor to Jim. She's too grown-up to be 14 or 15. Therefore, I assume that her age is 16 or 17.

But the film is entitled a Real Young Girl, so you could assume younger then that. I would guess somewhere between 13-17 though.

"a reference in the film to her being 17...and the actress was 21 or 22 when she made the film"

Both of these informations are correct.

reply

No, the film was made in 1975 and the actress was born in 1955. Do the math.

reply

At the time the discussion you are replying has been taking place there has been no Alexandra's biography or any relevant data about her birth date/year.

It says right on the IMDB Plot Summary.....

"Alice, 14, an only child, and physically well developed, is home for vacation. She's moody... "

I can't believe there were people discussing it in such great depth when the answer was right in front of them.

reply

yeah, but where do they get that age from? I don't recall them saying any age in the movie itself.

reply

If it only were the only mistake on IMDb...

reply

Didn't someone who is a user just like us write that review or did someone working for the IMDB staff actually do it? I always assumed user's wrote the reviews, etc. Guess not?

reply

Exactly. Therefore mistakes are always possible, and once appearing on the site it is not easy to correct them (no matter how many options there are available).

But administrators also participate in the mistakes. I have more than once found a same movie under two titles listed as different films. Also, the same actor (it is true, these are not well-known ones, so it's not easy to check) have two pages, while sometimes two different persons are sticked into one. Not to mention that some languages are not correct, precisely some languages are not allowed to be named though they are official in their countries; and in the same time a non-existing language is written as the one used in movie - this isn't made by users (who unsuccessfully try to correct it for years), but it is a decision of administrators.

The answer isnt hard to find Catherine Breillat wrote the novel and screen play I am sure her age is the novel. I read the Alice character is 14 it makes sense based on her thoughts and fantasies about her body and sexuality portrayed in the movie :) As human beings we all go through this bizare phase around puberty. Thank goodness its only once :)
