Rasen vs Ring 2

So, which one is the best ?

I say it's Rasen for reasons that I believe should be obvious but are not for so many people.

Ring 2 is for me like the American The Ring TwO, it wants to make more money on the success of the Ring so it tries too much to be scary without caring for the story too much. I find the story boring and pointless and it could actually have been a little more entertaining if it was scary, which it wasn't at all.

Rasen is for me the "official sequel". First : it's based on the original series of novels. Second : it's a great movie. Rasen tried to keep concentrated on the Ring story, not add pointless plots within it. Plus, the ending is the best ever, ever.

I loved Rasen, and didn't like Ring 2 for the same reasons. Ring 2 did nothing for the story really...if you were to look at Ring 1/2 as one movie, the second half would seem like a pointless additional 2 hours to the story, where the story doesn't advance at all. Rasen, however, brings the story a lot farther and actually goes somewhere. And I love where it goes, too. =] The book was better explained, but the movie itself was good too.

I love anime. =]

Ring 2 was just dumb. Scary, sure but Spiral beats it by a long shot. The best ring films are the ones that actually use Koji Suzukis brilliant novels.

I've seen Ring and Ring 2, Rasen sounds positively barmy.

In my opinion, Rasen was brilliant. But I expect nothing less from a film adapted from Koji Suzuki.

Knowing nothing about the novels, I thought that The Ring (1998) was pretty good. Rasen/Spiral was awful as a sequel to that film. It seems to ignore certain things from the first movie and completely change others. Also, the style and feel of the film is completely different. The medical aspect was kind of cool at first, then boring and there wasn't anything particularly scary or creepy going on at all. I really liked some of the imagery but that was about it. I'm going to watch Ring 2 soon and from what I read it seems to follow the first film much better. I just hope that it doesn't suck like the American Ring 2, which to me is one of the worst films of all time.

Ringu is J-HORROR.
The story overall isn't about science and sense, its about the unexplained, which is what really creates the horror.
Ring 2 was much more worth a watch for me, I was let down by Rasen, it sortof went into too much detail, especially for a film, parts of it were good and were worth a watch, but wow you consider Ring 2 to be just about making money? The film was directed by the same guy that created the original movie, which in effect works better and brings back parts of the atmosphere that people liked and watched the first film for, if you want the books read the books, the films are adaptions.

Neither deliver, Ringu 2 is too much in your face and Rasen, although more or less faithful to the novel, is pretty slow and boring. I really liked the Rasen the book, it was more of a scientific thriller, but there was neither thriller nor tension in the movie. Ringu 2 at least tries to be a horror movie and has one or two effective scenes, but overall isn't as good as the first one by a long shot.

Btw, those who think that Rasen doesn't fit in with the Ringu story shouldn't even try to read book 3, it'll just blow your mind :)

I have the books, though I never got to read them yet, so I am judging just based on the films. (I know and accept that the books are more Sci-Fi)

Rasen, strictly as a sequel to Ringu isn't awful, but it's not very good either. It has the guts to try something different, but it failed overall. I'd give it an average 5 out of 10. As a stand-alone film, it would have been better.

Ringu 2 was a better sequel to Ringu, but still not particularly good. It had a lot of great things, but it fell apart at times, and seemed to want to over-explain and over-work the horror. It was, like Rasen a very average film, but I liked it just a little bit better. Still gets an average 6 out of 10.

However, I really liked Ringu 0. Again, not the greatest film, but a step up. I'd give that one a 7 out of 10.

(I'd give the original Ringu a 10, the American remake The Ring an 8, and The Ring Two a 6.)

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
