When Sadako was reborn using Mai's body I assumed there was nothing of Mai left, Mai was dead. It was that way in the novel. But the end made me wonder, when they said Ruji's (sorry, can't remember exact spelling of his name) wish that Mai would be reborn had been granted, and they smiled lovingly at each other as though it was Mai!

Thanks for replying, but I'm still unsure about if it was Mai herself who came back in the film.
Ruji (spelling?) said his wish had been granted, he had Mai back. But I thought it was Sadako.
It's just that line in the film that confused me, and the way they smiled at each other like they were in love. (Mai and Ruji).

He didn't care about her that much when he practically set her up to give birth to Sadako. In the book he does though.
I was overall confused with Ryiuji. After all, what was in for him to ressurrect Sadako? I mean, she was his son's killer, and also killed his girlfriend in order to be ressurrected! Is this character that despicable?
