How exactly does it end?

My DVD copy crapped up with five minutes left to go, right after the lead detective guy shot that woman and the other dude started crawling over to her and bawlng about it or whatever. I think I can see where it's going (thief accepts his defeat in coming "second" and surrenders quietly while detective goes back to his family and rebuild his life) but at the same time I might be wrong in which case I HAVE TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS! I hate getting all the way to the finale then not knowing what happens...

I have to get more pudding for this trip to Hawaii.

Francis Ng's character shoots himself in the head as he can't accept his girlfriend's death and is uncapable to shoot the detective. The detective calls to his wife and hints that he'll quit the police. The End!

"My name is Burson Fouch."
"Excellent. I am Gravis Mushnik."
"Oh, that's a good one."

It ends with more crying. Emo cop gets more emo. Fade to black.
