Buddies~!Fallout is popular even in China

Black Isle's Rpgs such as BG,Fallout,Ice wind dale....

They are Best Rpgs..

reply

maybe that'll give them more reason to start up Fallout 3 again!

Shouldn't you be teaching the girls about their monthly?

reply

Actually, someone is working on Fallout 3, it's just not Black Isle. It's Bethesda, the people who made Morrowind. I just hope they don't screw it up.

reply

Yeah Bethesda purchased the rights to develop and publish Fallout 3. Plus Black Isle Studios is dead, they were shut down over a year ago, and Interplay is virtually non existent as a game company.

reply

Bethesda did a rather bad job on gameplay of Oblivion. I only hope/pray they dont try to make Fallout3 a multi-platform game, which will pretty much ruin the key gameplay elements.
But overall, i am confident it will turn out great. Because if not, millions of enraged geeks will rush bethesda's hq and go on riot spree =)

The same could have been said about the release of Daggerfall's lackluster sequel Morrowind, which also consequently ignored most of the elements that made its predecessor so much fun. In the end, nobody went on a riot spree and Morrowind recieved a billion "RPG OF THE YEAR" awards. And that's exactly what's going to happen when "Fallout Extreme: A Post Nuclear Action Adventure" gets released.
Nobody gives a sh't about the actual qualities of this game anymore. Well, at least not enough people to make a difference.

What was wrong with Morrowind?

reply

I'm not sure. I never played the game myself. I tend to avoid FPS rpg-lites, except for maybe Deus Ex and Vampire: Bloodlines, and system shock games as well as the upcoming Bioshock game. Anyway, basically, for FO3 as I imagine it, it shall be Oblivion with guns, which would not be Fallout.

Yeah, what exactly was wrong with Morrowind? It had an immersive world with tons to explore. You could venture freely and play for weeks while completely ignoring the mian plot. I thought the game was a masterpiece. Sure it lacked in character development but that was it.

I think it's just that some people don't like First Person Perspective for anything.

reply

Lacked in character development? The character development was nonexistant. not to mention how dumbed-down it was from its predecessor Daggerfall. Oblivion also lacked in character development. Sadly, this is what Fallout is about. you said it best, in the new elder scrolls games, the only REAL choices you get are...do you follow the main quest, or do you wander the "beautiful" countryside for weeks, ignoring the main quest. Baah.

reply

I don want to see a FPS-Fallout 3...

Remember what's the point of a good Rpg..

reply

I thought the PRC would be pissed off at Fallout. After all, the introduction states that China invaded Alaska shortly before the nuclear war, so that's probably how it all happened. A nuclear war between America and China gave way to the awesome post-apocalyptic setting of Fallout.

"Remember what's the point of a good Rpg.."

Apart from the perspective, a first-person game can be exactly the same.
