As the subject implies, the tech demo for Fallout 3 as envisioned by Black Isle Studios (codenamed Van Buren) has been leaked onto the web and is downloadable from the following location:
It's a pre-alpha version of the game, so not everything is implemented correctly (or at all in some cases) and the game is buggy and prone to crashing. Still, it's a great piece of history and pretty much the only chance to play Fallout 3 as it was originally conceived.
What's there isn't worth playing, it is a tech demo though. Although they did remove a large amount of skills in order to slap on that weird character customization stuff. I made a baldy with a hermit beard and such, it didn't even work out though, my beard would constantly go away and reappear. God damn bugged piece of crap.
Yeah, it might be a nice piece of history, but the only reason to touch it is to look, good luck actually finding anything that might be a semblance of the promise that the game could have been, you can't get anything from this muddled mess.
Project? Do you mean one of those fan mods planned a few people are making for Fallout 2?
I remembered seeing a few of those around. Personally, if they are going to use a system like Van Buren, they need to improve the engine a lot or just start over from scratch. I heard it was incredibly difficult to effectively program for Van Buren's engine.
