are you kidding????

i haven't watched this movie but such phrases in the synopsis as "professional karaoke hustler" and "bored suburban businessman turns outlaw karaoke singer" make me put it on my ignore list despite the fact that one of my favorite actors, Paul Giamatti, is in it ... they can't be serious with equating karaoke singers with gunfighter-type descriptions

take care,

Your loss. You really think Giamatti wouldn't put in a performance worth seeing?

It is not the greatest movie ever made, but it is worth watching, especially for the duet by Paul Giamatti and Andre Braugher which is brilliant in it's enthusiasm and as a buddy bonding moment. I agree the description sounds stupid, but ... it is accurate.

In a sense, you're right, and it is stupid if you look at it that way. But, but, BUT . . . it's a little more than that. It's pretty darned good. But I am a bit biased in that opinion because I love, worship, and adore karaoke.

The movie is also about the existential angst of living in middle-class America, as represented not only by Paul Giamatti's character - the "bored suburban businessman turns outlaw karaoke singer" - but just by the people in this movie in general. Everyone in this movie is running away from their past. I am very much in that position right now. I am about to go out for Paul's "pack of cigarettes".

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
