What's up with all those stuntmen?

I've seen the movie and as far as I remember, there were no explosions, no big shootouts, no mass fight scenes, nothing that could be called "action".

Nevertheless the credits lists over 41 stuntmen, most of whom usually work in action movies. Compare this to, for example, "The Mummy" (32 stuntmen), "Armageddon" (47 stuntmen) or "True Lies" (38 stuntmen).

What did all those guys (and 2-3 gals) do?

Credits often have mysterious entries, but this one really puzzles me.
Anyone got a clue?

Maybe they took turns doing all that crazy driving Paul G. & Anre B. supposably did. Other than that I've no idea.

Never look down on anybody unless you are helping him up.

how funny is that!

Also i we lead to believe that the petrol guy was shot dead!

Well, for starters, there's the bar fight with Huey and Gwenyth, then Andre's driving lesson scenes, plus the shootout in the gas station. Plenty of stuntwork.

Also, if you watch the DVD of the movie, deleted scenes explain exactly what happened to the gas counter clerk. It wasn't pretty. Plus, there's another robbery earlier in the movie that was deleted explaining how Reggie got his gun.
I'd recommend going back to watch it on DVD to really get a feel for what Reggie's motivations were.

I know this post is incredibly old, but I'm crossing my fingers...
What was the deleted scene with the gas station clerk please? I always assumed what happened, but I'd love to know the actual scene they filmed! Thanks in advance! =)

Honestly, I really couldn't tell you at this point. I rented the disc years ago when I wrote the post. In fact to be perfectly frank with you I don't even remember the scenes now.
Sorry! Find the DVD though: its there!

Well, there was the "fight scene" when Huey Lewis gets hit in the head with a beer bottle, and Gwyneth smashes the chair into the other singer.
