Ethan Embry

The most "disturbing" thing about this movie are the flashbacks of Allen (played by Ethan Embry). I'm always kinda freaked out by him saying "Don't worry about the snakes in your garden when there's spiders in your bed." Does anyone have some insight as to why this is included in the movie? Just because his older brother committed suicide doesn't really make James Marsden's character a more likely target for the blue-ribbon club/the project...I mean, aren't most parents in this genre of film uninvolved or overly concerned anyway?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any real significance of the flashbacks.

i supose they're just trying to give James Marsden's character more background and depth- as opposed to being just another rebellious teen- they're giving him a reason for being depressed...like teenagers need one..
