Skank's Apology

i like this movie quite a lot in fact even tho there are some spots where it goes 'clank' but still all in all a very good movie really

but one part that rings particularly true is when Skank goes to apologize to the Mayor for sleeping with his wife ... and starts it off when Lolita Davidovich answers the door and gives him a look and he says, 'don't worry, i'm not here to sleep with you' lmao ... what a doofus ...

but then he starts talking to the mayor and the more he explains, the more you know a guy like him, or at least i've known guys like him ... 'after i'm too old to play in the game anymore i'll probably just end up a drunk like my dad' ... that knowledge is gnawing at his soul every day of his life, he thinks of that every time he steps on the ice ... and then to see him sitting looking like a scared little boy in his trailer the morning of the big game, eyes wide and kind of rocking back and forth ... up until then all we know about him is that he's a p****-marauder and a hockey player who is pretty much a 'could care less' kind of guy ... and Ron Eldard ('Skank') delivers the apology just on the edge of tears, not too much but not too little ... a perfect apology and telling the mayor that the game reflects positively on him and that he's going to do whatever he can to make sure they win (and then takes one 'in the seeds' to block a shot) ...

i always make sure i'm watching that part of the movie .. i just think it's a perfect little piece of film and acting and writing ...
