mystery creek is the place where its set one of the stores has it written on the side at some point in the movie.

There is a Mystery Creek, but there is no Mystery. I believe I read somewhere or saw something that said "the fictional town of Mystery, Alaska."

No, there isn't a Mystery Alaska. Also there are no counties in Alaska, therefore there aren't any Sheriffs. There are Boroughs and the city police cover the towns and cities and the State Troopers try to cover the rest. Oh, and I know this because I live in Anchorage Alaska.
