The Ending.

So they just lost? Damn.

Point is, they can "rival any team in the NHL." A 5-4 loss is not bad. It means it's a fairly even pairing, and that a rematch might produce an exactly opposite result.

Then again, I root for the Islanders. They would have made the Mystery team feel real good about themselves. ;-)

That's the problem with some people. A loss isn't the end of the world. It's how you play the game. You play with heart and courage, *beep* no one can take that away, win or lose, you love the game.

The short one's gawking at me and the tall one's being very droll.

Well, if they won I think it would have taken away from the point of the movie. It was supposed to be some enduring show of sportsmanship and passion for the sport of hockey. And how a small town can use something hockey to unite and come together as one. Had they won the game it would have been a little over the top.

The fact that they lose has always been one of my favorite aspects of this movie.

They didn't go cliche and have the team of nobodies beat professionals. They played a great game, and had a ton of effort, but it was better that they lost. A win would've been very predictable.

reply

no such thing as a cliche.

You want to play the game, you'd better know the rules, love.

Sure there is.

It's over 3 years later and this might be the dumbest comment I've ever seen.
