Where is everybody?

I'm going to watch this soon, and afterwards I'm going to discuss it with myself in this thread.

So there!

I will participate with myself in this thread.

It is like that with a lot of good older and non-US films. This site is heavily skewed toward the new and dumb.

Anyway, about this movie...one of the best baseball films I've seen. Not about action on the field, but a hard hitting, dark and accurate portrayal of players as commodity. The amount of people whose lives can be greatly affected just by the signing or non-signing of a big league player.
No other movie has told this story as well as I Will Buy You.

It may be a cultural difference (East/West), or the age of the film, but I wasn't terribly impressed or shocked by this at all. Frankly, finishing this 112 minute movie felt like a chore. I do applaud Criterion for digitally remastering & and re-releasing it though. Not all movies can be winners, but it's great that they spend the time to share lost and forgotten works with the viewing public.

I'll definitely be joining you in discussion as soon as I can get Kobayashi's recently released films under my viewing belt.

This film was better than expected, thank you criterion!

I see the OP hasn't returned.

I agree with your statement. It dragged in some spots, but I gave the film a 8/10; I would have given it a 7.5 if possible. It's the second film I've watched in the Kobayashi's Eclipse Series, and I hope the remaining two continue to show the director improving over time.
