Why did he run?

Scene that puzzled me.

After they clearly threatened his family, why did Cage run from the villains? He had the upperhand as two guys were dead, Machine was wounded. He should've killed Sopranos guy and Machine there and then, protecting his family.

I think that since he only had one bullet in the handgun, and had used that to shoot off his handcuffs, he needed to escape before Gandolfini retrieved his own gun from under the car. I doubt he had enough time to reload before either Machine grabbed him or Gandolfini started shooting.
Additionally, by escaping, he was able to contact his wife and warn her immediately - this was probably his priority.

He left a note. He left a simple little note that said, "I've gone out the window."

That and he was just so frightened that he just wanted to get out of there.

He still could have reloaded his gun , it only would have taken him 20 seconds or so but seeing how Eddie had a gun as well I guess getting out of there was the main priority and he was pretty freaked out (he did just see a man get his throat slit)
