Those all have the a similar tone, dark noir types with disturbing sexuality. Maniac is a video nasty from the early 80s.

shareHardcore, definitely. Also try Mute Witness and the Spanish Tesis is indeed very good. A bit different is Paul Schraders Auto Focus, but it's about 8mm, video, sleaze and sex as well. And very good.
shareThere is this new Eastern European foreign film already released in limited cinemas in several countries of the world that is simply called Serbian Film (2009) that is said to be dealing with an extremely similar subject matter to "8MM", but it is about 10X more extreme and sickening. If you like private detective films where he's going around finding clues & solving mysteries like in 8mm, I would also recommend "ANGEL HEART" with Mickey Rourke, and "BLADE RUNNER" with Harrison Ford (set in the future). But all 3 films are linked by the fact they're essentially about Private Dicks solving a mystery that gradually gets under their skin.

It's all the music videos that were made from the Broken album with clips of a snuff film spliced between them, eventually merging together (sort of) near the end. It's the best fake snuff I've ever seen.
