Best character in Howard's way

I know this show had a massive following back in the 80's and my interest has been caught by the reshowing of episodes on UKTV Drama... everyone had their favourite characters i'm sure... who was yours?

I'm finding it hard to decide... in the first series definately Leo (who I still like a lot) but as of the end of the first series (where Lynne slipped and fell into the water after an encounter with Charles Frere and his wife) it has been Lynne! I also think Avril is very good but I don't like Jan very much!

If you're gonna be dumb, you've gotta be tough! :)

oo i've been watching it to ^ tho i was born in 1988 :) anyways, my favorite character would be between Leo and Tom (if only he would get back with Jan), ^

Ken Masters, he's 100% Rogue lol
Lynn Howard, she's 100% Wooden lol

when will it be out
fav charater was laura played by kate o'mare she went in 2 business with ken masters... think she was in series 5 and 6...

Has to be Sir John, the bank manager.

Everyone turns to him for loans and business advice, but he blabs the whole lot to his old school chum Sir Edward. As soon as Sir John has confidential financial information, he makes sure everyone knows it. And everyone falls for it, and queues up to get his advice, every time.

Also, he belittles awful Ken Masters by calling him "Kenneth".

Sir John is the real star of Howards Way. A wonderfully funny character.

Favourite character ? Hmmmm. Possibly Avril Rolfe but I liked Tom also and it was a pity he passed away.

The charcter I disliked the most was Orin Hudson. I could not stick the man !!!. In fact i would go as far as to say I used to call him Moran Hudson.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the wonderful marvelous Jack Rolfe (Glyn Owen) I loved his grumpy nature and his excellent on liners! I loved Avril and Charles too and thought Ken got some great lines too.

Abby really irritated me for some reason, especially in the final series when she came back all glammed up.

Lots of memorable characters in this series and great actors/actresses. But for me Sarah-Jane Varley, who played temptress and vixen, Sarah Foster was the best. She was vulnerable, yet focussed and had steely determination not to be bullied by Ken Masters or Charles Frere. Allied with her breathtaking beauty - she always looked a million dollars even on the windy location shoots- She must have been a joy to work with, even with a 6.00am role call. Where is Sarah-Jane Varley now and has she given up acting? If she has, then we have "lost" a smashing lady and a great talent from the acting profession.
