Silliest Scream in the series

This movie is so goofy and slapstick. Originally, Dewey was the only bumbling and goofy character, now they all are, even the killer. It's like watching an episode of the Three Stooges.

I like silly. And I like slapstick. I also like goofy. But I prefer Donald. And bumbling is entertaining.

reply

The series derived most of it's humor from somewhat witty dialogue, as least up until this installment. The silliness of this movie is probably one of the reasons it is the least popular of the series, even behind Scream 4. Only thing missing from this movie is a Great Dane and the unmasked villian saying "I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you pesky kids!"

I agree, it's way too silly. Not the same tone as the previous two Scream movies.

reply

Super Consistent Tone.

"See it with someone you love...Go by yourself"

reply

Super Duper Inconsistent Tone.

reply

Did you even watch the first two Scream movies?

Did you even watch Scream 3?

I'm really starting to wonder...

"See it with someone you love...Go by yourself"

reply

Do you have a severe case of autism? I've been wondering for years.

So according to you all those people who say the same thing haven't seen these movies either and just happen to make the same stuff up???

Grow up, Guy. You're the most immature guy I've met on here.

reply

What "stuff" are they even making up?

All 4 movies have a super consistent tone.

Funny and Scary. Murder and Mystery.

Same principle cast. Same principle crew.

If you somehow believe that equals a super duper inconsistent tone, you're mistaken about what a tone is.

Well, that's something we have to ask you. I don't think they're making anything up.

All 4 movies have a super consistent tone.

Funny and Scary. Murder and Mystery.

Same principle cast. Same principle crew.

I can't say that Scream 3 was really scary or funny, but different movies can be scary and funny in different ways. Crew and cast can work differently...or be hardly on screen.

If you somehow believe that equals a super duper inconsistent tone, you're mistaken about what a tone is.

The fact that you believe that just because two movies are funny, scary and have the same cast and crew means they have the same tone, clearly shows you don't understand what the words means. And you know what wasn't the same? The scriptwriter. But that's just an unimportant detail, ofcourse...

Now act like a big boy and deal with it.

reply

Have you ever seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Have you seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2?

That's two films with a super duper inconsistent tone, just so you know.

Not Scream 3...Which fits in perfectly with the rest of the series.

Just because you(and many others) think Scream 3 brought the comedy out of nowhere, doesn't make it so.

Just because you think Scream 3 is no longer scary, doesn't make it so.

You're the one that needs to act like a big boy, stop belittling a film and becoming indignant any time I defend it.

I love the film, but you don't see me making a billion love sick posts about how great it is. Just when I'm responding to your constant bitching posts.

You do the math.

Ģreat if you think so, but I and others happen to disagree.

The same goes for you. Just because you think Scream 3 has the same comedy and is scary, doesn't make it so.

You're the one that needs to act like a big boy, stop belittling a film and becoming indignant any time I defend it.

Let's get this straight, YOU are the one who replied to me and CONSTANTLY replies to me being belittling and indignant about my opinion. I didn't say anyhthing about your defense of this movie. I'm also not a boy or a man, I think I've pointed this out many times before. It's clear you don't even listen to what other people say.

I love the film, but you don't see me making a billion love sick posts about how great it is. Just when I'm responding to your constant bitching posts.

Maybe not a billion, but quite a few, like this one. Look how you're crying and being hateful in this thread, if anyone's bitching it's you. I only sporadically post on this board and my posts haven't ALL been about my criticism of the movie.

You do the math.

And I conclude that you're an extremely immature, young man who can't deal with the fact that there are people who don't like the things he likes.

reply

You would conclude that.

Interestingly, browsing your posting history I see you are arguing in the same imature way with another user stepsonglass. They even put you on ignore I see.

And again, I love heaps of movies that are unversally hated..Alien 3 being a prime example. Never bothered me. You know why?

A.) I could care less.
B.) Way back when I went to the Alien 3 boards and expressed how I loved the film, I wasn't accosted constantly by the same bunch of brainwashing losers who couldn't stand the fact that I dared to defend the film they hate and insist everyone else should hate.

I was even banned from Screamtrilogy.com for no reason other than I was defending points of the film and the moderator couldn't stand it...It's laughable.

Funny never had this problem with any other movie on imdb...Or in everyday life for that matter.

The first time I ever came to the scream boards it was like a pirahna tank, there was actual shock I thought highly of the film and it got nasty very quickly.

You, MovieBuffBrad, Wehoaks. etc

You guys are what we call cyber-bullys.

Look at this thread alone.

Your personal insults abound.

I have autism.

I need to "grow up and be a big boy."

I'm an extremely imatture young man.

Call me Butt-hurt (one of you're favorite slurs I believe)

Call me whatever you want.

It shows the kind of mentality you guys have...Hell, I was even actually accused of "screwing my Scream 3 dvd" at one point by one of you. And of actually being Ehrehn Krueger.

'Nuff said.

Your history shows that you've been banned from a website. Enough said.

Seems like that poster is just as immature as you and just wants everyone to agree with them. I tried to have a discussion with him like an adult and he apparantly couldn't or didn't want to do that.

The first time I ever came to the scream boards it was like a pirahna tank, there was actual shock I thought highly of the film and it got nasty very quickly.

Oh yeah, the horror! Saying "I agree, it's way too silly. Not the same tone as the previous two Scream movies" is SO nasty! If you're honestly shocked by such a statement then you really do need to grow up.

You, MovieBuffBrad, Wehoaks. etc

You guys are what we call cyber-bullys.

I didn't even reply to you! I'm almost never the first to reply to you! I think I've stressed this again and again. I have no problem whatsoever with the fact that you like Scream 3. The only thing I've said to you is that there's no reason to constantly bring up Scream 3 on the Scream 2 board and the other way around, and compare the two movies. It's things like that that contribute to a nasty atmosphere on the board. And the last couple of years you've been hounding me every time I dare to say something negative about this movie. If anyone is a bully it's you.

Your personal insults abound.

How dare you whine about personal insults. You are the one who first used an ad hominem, accusing me of lying by suggesting I haven't even seen these movies. And you love throwing personal insults around. You constantly call me and others Williamson fanboys who are in love with him. You accuse us of just making things up, ignoring things, not "getting" or "grasping" the movie, not making "logical sense", being haters, hypocrites, etc. You can dish it, but you can't take.

And wondering if you have autism is not an insult, it's nothing to be ashamed of, but it might be a very good explanation why you behave the way you do. Saying you need to grow up and deal with it is not a personal insult either. What else should you do if you can't handle someone stating an opinion you don't agree with and respond by suggesting they're making things up and don't know what certain words mean? Grow up and deal with it!

It shows the kind of mentality you guys have...Hell, I was even actually accused of "screwing my Scream 3 dvd" at one point by one of you. And of actually being Ehrehn Krueger.

I've never said any of those things, so it's absurd to hold them against me. I don't go and blame you for the things other posters say.

Oh, please. No one cared that you liked one movie more than the other, it's that you actively tried to turn every thread into a Scream 2 vs Scream 3 debate. We have a name for you, and it's "troll".

Just rewatched these & the first is best overall, second has my favorite scene and three has some moments but if DEFINITELY the goofiest of them all. Not to mention it edits nearly all the violence. Which brings it down alot in my book

reply

Whoevers' arguing same tone you only need eyes to plainly see a few dark scenes dont make a full over film tone. The others weren't goofy they were witty humor and referencial. This is slapstick and it takes away from the series for me

reply

I sort of respect it for shifting genre (the way Die Hard With A Vengeance departed from the confined disaster movie template to instead be a buddy comedy) but the extreme meta surrealism and goofiness took the edge off, as did the reduced gore.

There’s much to enjoy though. The Cotton Weary opener is very effective and the first one to ice a major character, the final act is a thrilling massacre that keeps you guessing who the killer is as all the suspects appear to be offed. The reveal, motive and brutal showdown with Sydney is nail-biting. The final scene where Sydney leaves the door open and walks off, cut to black, is surprisingly poignant.

The bulk of the film isn’t bad but feels uninspired and odd, though I do like Sydney’s visit to the set which recreates scenes from the first film.

As ever, Neve keeps the series afloat with a great central performance, anchoring all of the silliness. Holding Ghostface’s hand as he (seemingly) dies was strangely touching.

reply

Why are Jay and Silent Bob in it? That doesn’t make any sense.

reply

the part where ghost face throws a knife at Dewey and it freaking hits his forehead with the handle........

it would be a good movie as a parody.

reply

i think this film was OK.
there's like 748 plot holes but i agree it works as a comedy/parody of Scream.
