Spongebob had their movie 7 years ago and are still fine, that's the point. Rugrats was started losing a little popularity in 97-98, right beofre the movie came out, which is why they made it. It lost even more before the second movie, so they treied again and that didn't work.

I disagree with you both...
The first two films are considered classics, now the 3rd is awful I will admit.
And Rugrats didnt lose popularity until AFTER the 2nd movie, which was when SpongeBob rose to fame.
And it became more like a preschool-aged show when the show was originally for all ages. my grandma loved the Rugrats *original version* and still does to this day...
and this movie was a huge box-office success so this movie isnt the reason for the show's decline in popularity/quality.
