Was I the only one who thought this was great?!

It seems majorly underrated for some reason.

I agree, I thought it was a great movei, the modern music and style worked for it. I don't remember hearing about it when it came out, I heard about it thought the soundtrack being used in other films.

I love this movie!!! It's one of my and my dad's favorites. I don't understand the bad reviews. The music and acting are awesome.

Yes I loved this movie. It was a good modern period drama ! Why it was under rated I do not know. Certainly one of the best period pieces I have seen in the last ten years. Very entertaining and brilliant acting.

I think this movie is highly entertaining. Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle had great chemistry together. I love it and really don't understand why it wasn't hit.

Just in my opinion but possibly the most underrated movie ever made. "Plunkett & Macleane" rocks! I wish it was out on DVD; this is one of my top 5 favorite films. A razor-sharp 10/10, all across the board. If you can take awkward behaviors from a different culture (I'm talking specifically about the Victorian era) and just mockingly glamorize hideous dialogue like "Buggers with style!" or calling your best chum "my darling" and actually making you LIKE IT???...then it's accomplished something. I would find that sort of dialogue squeamish and unnecessary, but it was full of humor and made my friends and I bust out laughing. Right when it was finished I wanted to rewind it and watch it again! (Yes, I had to borrow it, it's damn-near unfindable.) How it received bad reviews--only humorless dullards gave it glance and missed out big time.

"I say, who on Earth were they?"
"Buggers with style, my darling! Buggers with style!"

I think this movie is great. I am a fan of Robert Carlyle and I think Jonny Lee Miller is an eye candy in this movie!!!

Great? No; entertaining? Yes. It's a modern gloss on a B-movie swashbuckler and little more. However, those B-Movies were often fun, as is this. Truly, that's all that really matters.

I've only seen it once years ago but I did enjoy it and the performances by Carlyle & Miller. Liv Tyler is beautiful in this as well so that's a bonus

Was one of my first DVD's circa 2000, I bought it because it had two trainspotters in it and loved it instantly, then when I found out the movie was only a year old I was shocked because I had heard nothing and seen nothing of it's marketing. It went straight under the radar thanks to not actually being touted at press tours or advertised on TV. Very unusual for that to happen to a British movie in the UK where it's biggest impact might be.

Then again if I recall correctly in 1999 very few movies could shout above the roar created by The Matrix, which was something of a phenomenon.
