Does the DVD version of Paljas have English subtitles?
Or is there a DVD version with English dialogue?
I´ve tried to get that information from a couple of South African webstores, but they, strangely enough, seem unable or unwilling to answer those questions.
unfortunately no English version of this film exists. the only DVD that i know of is on the budget label NEXT and it only features subtitles in English

Subtitles in English would have been perfectly OK for me, I prefer that method instead of dubbing.
However, 15 November 2005, I corresponded with the South African Shopasave.net company concerning Paljas, and they finally wrote:
"I have to apologise... it seems as if my initial information was incorrect.
I have confirmed today with Next Video that the DVD does not have English
subtitles.
As far as I could find out, Next Video has the sole distribution rights for
the movie Paljas, which unfortunately eliminates the possibility of a better
quality production with subtitles being out there."
I think it is a pity, the film is excellent, but without subtitles a DVD version is of no value for the non-Afrikaans speaking part of the world. I really enjoyed seeing it, WITH English subtitles, in a Pretoria cinema in 1998.
