Why Ashley Laurence (she plays the publisher) didn't become a bigger star is beyond me. While she may not be a great actress, she is a great beauty, and beauty tends to create bigger stars than talent in Hollywood. She first caught my eye in the first Hellraiser film, and her work hasn't really progressed beyond those B-type movies. There's no reason why she shouldn't have become an enormous TELEVISION star, in a medical or crime drama show maybe. Perhaps her ambition is such that she's perfectly happy where she is in her career, but I think a better agent could have worked WONDERS with her.

I agree. She is very gorgeous and a wonderful actress

She's certainly very attractive, but a "great beauty?" Hardly. But you may be on to something...perhaps if she DID have a better agent, who exposed her to more high profile roles, she might've become more of a success.

I would imagine the history of Hollywood is chock full of stories of beautiful, talented actresses (and actors) who just never got the right break...and is certainly rife with talentless hacks who are enormously popular for completely inexplicable reasons...

Ah, yeah...perhaps "great beauty" was going too far, but Ashley Laurence just happens (happened?) to be my "type". (Well, really, I tend to like most all women, but I do prefer dark hair and complexions to blondes.)

But I couldn't agree more with your assessment of actresses and the biz. Of course we don't know Miss Laurence's full story. She may not have been particularly ambitious. I'm guessing there are dozens of reasons why a working actor just kind of falls off the radar. I just figured that if she WERE trying to "make it", she could have easily found a lot of work in television at the very least. She was attractive, photogenic, and not a terrible actress. She had a few entries on her CV and then...?

Anyway, thanks for weighing in on this one.

She was very pretty in Hellraiser too, I think she's pretty hot.

She seems like she had a bigger role, but then got scenes cut.
