Loud, broad, unsubtle, in-your-face filmmaking!

Makes any Oliver Stone movie you can think of look like ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN.

If this movie had been more restrained and less juvenile -- like, for example, Phil Kaufman's remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS -- it could've been a bona fide classic instead of the camp fest it turned out to be.

But they decided to play to the cheap seats.

Idiots.

I blame Kevin Williamson.

Not every movie with a similar horror premise has to be similar in tone and style. For me, this movie works BECAUSE of how over-the-top it was. It's essentially The Breakfast Club meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers on STEROIDS, with its depiction of high-school being just as outlandish as its horror. That's what makes the two genres meld perfectly to deliver a truly fun 90's thriller.
