No Blue
Pay attention in the actual movie (not advertising) there isn't any blue. The director has an extreme hate for the color blue, in fact at the wrap party they played a joke on him and all wore a hideous blue color.

sharewasn't the antique paper with blue lettering????
shareWell let''s see...
- Blue sky at the funeral
- Blue letters on the Seabreeze diner's sign
- Blue pattern on a wall behind Nick and Lissa when they are making out
- Blue book cover in Lissa's hand
- Blue jeans hanging on a chair behind Nick
- Blue trucks and dumpsters when Nick is burning his dad's stuff
- Blue walls at Tropico's Recycling
And this is all within the first 30 minutes of the film (which I'm watching now). So while the color blue may not be prominently featured, it's far from being absent, as you claim. I'd say your theory really doesn't hold water...which by the way, is BLUE.
This post made me blue.
