An 1997 Australian film called 'Thank God He Met Lizzie' ('The Wedding Party' in the USA) with Frances O'Connor, Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh. (It's NOT a comedy, by the title you would think it is).

What are your recommendations (similar themes as LADCP please)?

It's not the same but some of the elements are...Love Me If You Dare (French, with subtitles). A terrif movie.

Wong Kar-Wai's 'In the Mood for Love' and '2046' are just as amazing and concept-wise have a lot in common.

If you liked this movie, surely you will enjoy 21 Grams, Amores Perros, Blind Chance, The Double Life of Verónique, Three Colors Trilogy, The Lovers on the Bridge, etc.

My favorites: In the Mood for Love/2046 and Visconti's, La Notti Bianchi (1957) absoultely beautiful and heartbreaking.

The way I see it, is that we weren't retreating, we were just attacking in a new direction.
