lyrics

I have been trying to find the opening theme lyrics to the show. I think I have some of it, but I want to know exactly. I am happy that they came out on DVD. I really liked the show, so sad it had to end. Any response to the lyrics will be helpful..

It's clearly about a Sofa being scratched.

Try this link, might help:

I think you have to email requests - it doesn't say anything about having to pay.

I think it is actually (im gonna hazard a guess) 'don't scratch my Soca'. Based on the fact that Soca is a traditional dance music from Trinidad and when this program was released, the form of scratching was a heavy influence in hiphop music. I think it was a way of saying leave my music as it is, as Desmond is a very traditional person who finds it hard to adjust to modern life and values.

Yes it is indeed "Don't scratch my soca". If you have the dvd just put the subtitles on and the lyrics are there for you.
They are -

From the long warm nights with an ocean breeze
To the damp and to the rain of London City.
We come from the sun to live in the cold
I miss my rum I want my coconut tree.

Don't scratch my soca
'Till the party's over.

Let's keep the music sweet
Wind up your waist and feel the beat.
Don't scratch my soca!

"John 3:16"

The Ambrose's were a Guyanese family in the show.

Norman Beaton RIP, and Carmen Monroe was/are both from Guyana

The quoted lyrics aside, the music played is soca, and there was some 'scratching' involved!

"Don't scratch my sofa" I don't know where anyone would get that from!! LOL

Lazyeejay2003 was on point! ;-)
