The original "Treasure Planet"?

When I was a kid, I watched a very disturbing movie on TV, made in 1982, called "Treasure Planet", based on Robert Louis Stevenson's book. It's been uploaded on YouTube and can be found there. The style and the idea is severely messed up, but it is reminiscent of the concept for Disney's "Treasure Planet".

The 1982 animation is too disturbing for me, while I love Disney's movie, but still, I am fairly certain someone from Disney's team must've seen at some point and suggested the project. I don't believe it's just a coincidence.
