but what's up with:

A chimp leading the army, with gorillas kissing his azz? Never going to happen.

The female chimp makeup being worse than the original film decades earlier.

Apes killing apes.

That older ape with his chimp chick - not going to happen.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings.

The whole "ape shall not kill ape" was kind of stupid anyway. I just couldn't buy it.

The ASNKA has been handled clumsily at times throughout the entire series (Battle, for instance, in the 'school' scene), but the idea itself makes sense, especially if there is the undercurrent notion of apes not wanting to replicate the self-destructive behavior of humans.

The mantra was introduced in Beneath, so isn't really canon to the original film. As far as I'm concerned, seeing that the line originated via a sequel (not even one of the original writers) and it wasn't in the novel, then this film could freely omit it. In the end of the day, it was a statement against murder and a show that apes had reached a certain level of civilisation, and can be seen as a glorified "Thou shalt not kill" (not surprising that Zaius was the first to utter it in the films). Anyway, it's not as if the "commandment" prevented executions and the like; but then it's human to err. ;)

The gorillas are the warriors, the chimpanzees are the intellectuals. I could see a chimpanzee filling the position of general since it would take an ape with a mind for strategy.
