humans too advanced

I think the humans are too advanced and appear quite intelligent in this movie.

reply

Agree completely. Burton in the director's commentary said that he wanted them mute, but was overruled by the studio.

reply

They might just as well have been mute, for any good they did in the movie. The talking humans contributed nothing, really.

reply

however it kind of ruined the premise about the film, the humans that are slave.
if the humans are that advanced and can communicate what would have stopped them from organizing some sort of rebellion army.
wasn't the idea to show that humans are just animals/slaves on this planet? and the abes "the human"?

I think the humans should have been protrayed stoneage "stupid".

reply

Exactly. Its like saying a bear does business in the woods. What was the point of them being able to speak? They offered nothing at all to the movie. The chick from the first one couldn't speak and I gave way more craps about her than I did anybody in this entire movie.

yes....like others have pointed out, it was commanded from above (the corporate suits) that the humans speak. I am taking this on faith since i didn't know this fact before reading others on this site stating it.
This is one (of many) reasons the 1974 TV show seemed, or, is lame, as well as the last film in the original series of films, BATTLE. Of course this is only my opinion. The humans acted too contemporary. It takes away from the original mystique of that world created in the first film.
But the corporate world has to get their fingers into everything and contaminate it with their non-artistic/creative opinions.
At least the new run of films kind of wipe away the memory of this reboot film. It would be cool if someone did a re-boot of this reboot and do it right this time. You can NEVER appease every one with any film, but hopefully a director who is a hard-core fan of the original 68' film will do it justice. After all, who ever thought Harrison Ford would ever don that Han Solo suit again...stranger things HAVE happened. :)
