Ending was retarded, movie was retarded, Tim Burton is retarded.

All these facts are undeniable.

Why was the ending retarded? Because even if apes ended up taking over the Earth, there's no reason to think they'd create (or be able to create) a replacement Lincoln in the form of an Ape. It's just a stupid, mindless, illogical attempt to replicate the "Statue of Liberty" ending from the original. Except that actually made sense.

Burton is retarded and should be shot so that he stops polluting the filmosphere with his stupidity. (Why are critics and some fans unable to see how much he completely sucks?)

I worry what you'd do if Burton really pissed you off... Suffice it to say, wanting someone shot because you don't like their films is a bit worrying on the sanity front.

reply

here, here. I worry about his neighbor who trims the branches on the tree between their houses without his consent. Or his kids if they bring home an F.

reply

Meh. He's rather washed-up, but at some point he had a very interesting message, and his gothic-style visuals can be arresting.

Your thread is really stupid. I mean, I agree with you that the ending is utterly implausible and was not thought out well at all. Burton has become a shell of his former self, playing it safe and regurgitating the same old junk with the same old cast and the same old visuals to the point of total and utter boredom. But still, that is no reason to make idiot comments about how he should be shot. If you cannot express yourself in a better fashion, then perhaps you should just not post at all. You just made yourself look like the "retard" here, no one else.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

The ending is basically lifted from the book. Not the Abe Lincoln ape statue, but the astronaut returning to earth to find apes ruling there too. Its actually closer to the source material than the Statue of Liberty ending.

reply

I'm just amazed at how many people have NEVER read the book.
As you say it's almost the same ending, I love it.
It's just a pity it never carried on.

Not a great movie over all but many highlights. (the reboot is so much better) but it stands out because no other ape film looks like it, and it will be the last time real make ups will be used for an ape movie. CG takes another victim.

reply

I am curious now.

Can you, or maybe someone else explain the book ending on how Earth is taken over when the astronauts return?

And how was it now Ape Lincoln?

reply

Your useless rant is retarded - that's an undeniable fact.

Although I do agree the original film's science was more plausible and had a stronger social message, I enjoyed this movie as a flick.

I also feel like it sends a message of how dangerous chimpanzees can actually be. In fact chimpanzees are considered the most dangerous apes which I thought was appropriately embodied by Thade.

Gorillas are generally portrayed as big and scary but in fact are more passive in character.
Chimpanzees on the other hand are portrayed as being friendly but are in fact extremely dangerous and are the most clever of apes.

I think this movie also hits home on how strong chimpanzees can be. They're not as strong as gorillas, but pound for pound they are far stronger than humans.
Having such a great physical advantage to humans, added with an enhanced intellect which the scientists in the movie encouraged, I think it's plausible their space station was wiped out.

It's just one of the perspectives that wasn't present in the original movie where the apes were a lot more frail. Whether or not the apes would lose their strength so much through a couple of thousand years, I don't know. However, it's an interesting perspective.

Well what are the use of my brains if I'm tied up with a dumb cluck like you?

I've seen a few Tim Burton movies, and rarely does he ever make sense , I just sit back and enjoy them, maybe when I watch the original I will have a different opinion, but for now I'm sticking with this one.
