The Matrix
I watched this film on DVD last night and it was pretty weird. It kind of reminded me of The Fifth Element, or 2001: a Space Odyssey.
The special effects were amazing,, the acting was great.
I love everything about this film. The aesthetic, effects, and action scenes are what first grab you, but on repeat viewings, you get deeper into the philosophy and symbolism every time.
By now, I've seen it a LOT and I appreciate the storytelling and construction on just about every level.
One of the things I've always loved about this film is its ability to make me dig on side characters with almost no screen time just with little details. Switch was always one of my favourite characters, and I think a lot of that love was just because she wore white while everybody else wore black. She stands out. You get this vibe that she's different, and that's cool...
