Luke and Leigh Ann hooked up in the 10th grade?

Had they had sex before, or was the sex scene in the movie their first time? She didn't seem like the type to do it in the bathroom at some party. And the whole thing where he had said he had dreamed of this and wanted this kind of made it seem like this was the first time it had happened.

But he said they had hooked up in the 10th grade - usually that means sex, right? Although maybe it was different in 1999.

it's been a long time since i watched the entire movie, but i think "hooked up" in my day (that makes me feel so old) meant a kiss or making out at most.

it was a simpler, more innocent time...haha.

so, yeah, to me, the scene in which they have sex in tingle's house is their first time. luke had been lusting after her for years since their encounter in the bathroom and finally his dreams come true in tingle's foyer...too bad she's listening.

Nothing happened in the bathroom because Jo even reminds Leigh on the way to school at the beginning of the movie that Leigh was still a virgin.

yeah, because back then, hooking up didn't mean having sex. it meant they kissed or made out.

"Hooked up" usually meant making out. At least in the '90s, when you hooked up with someone it means you did stuff, but not sex. Messed around. :)

No matter the time period, hook up definitely implies Sex in some way.

My car is fast, my teeth is shiny, I tell all the girls they can kiss my heinie!

Well, a few years ago "Netflix and chill" meant literally one would watch Netflix and chill on the couch. Today, high schoolers and college students use the term to mean making out.

Phrases evolve....in the 1940s, a "ghetto" meant something totally different from how we use it now!!
