Why was Lauren? (spoilers)

That's a good question... I wondered that as well when they finally got around to showing what she saw.

But then later in the movie, I believe it was the police chief that said she was killed because she was snooping into her father's life, and trying to figure out what mess he'd gotten into (Again, another thing that is never explained is what her father was even up to).

So I think her snooping lead her to that particular address, and not because she wanted to be a stripper :)
