Yes, I agree with you about Borrowed Hearts.

I do so agree!!

I had viewed it once this Holiday Season, priour to perusing the IMDB message board for this excellent film; and upon reading how difficult it is to obtain a complete, unedited copy ( what in the world could be found to be offensive to anyone in this film??), I purposed to record it to a blank VHS tape. I did so last evening, as it was shown on the Lifetime Network. It was shown for, what I fear, will be it's last outing this Holiday Time. For those not yet having seen it, I do so hope it is shown again. What a sorry puzzle, that one is not able to lay hold of this wonderful story in the marketplace.

Whilst viewing / recording this gem of a film, I was struck afresh with what a marvellously written, well acted and expertly directed, work of art it truly is!! It comes as close to perfection as anything could possibly hope to do, in this frightfully imperfect world in which we dwell. From the opening title page and credits to the last note of music played at the close, not once is there a misstep to be found. It embodies hope, faith and sweetness, without cloyingness; and upholds integrity, strength of character and honesty, as the virtues they truly are, without becoming sanctimonious or self righteous. This perfect confection possesses sweetness amid some of life's disappointments; broken dreams and hope for future dreams, and does grande justice by all. It is a gossamer and spun gold creation, and possessing heretofore unexpected depth and heart. A genuinely heartwarming story, which leaves one all the better, for having partaken. Truly delightful in every way.

Upon reflection after viewing " Borrowed Hearts" so many times, I do believe this is my very favourite holiday film, even surpassing "A Christmas Carol" and "It's A Wonderful Life." They are excellent in their own way, but "Borrowed Hearts" has surpassed them on my score card. If, for no greater reason; than how I feel after having seen it again. I feel lighter, more hopeful, renewed in mind and spirit. I have been able to enjoy a time apart, spent with Sam, Kathleen, Zoey, Senor Del Campo, et al; and I am so much the better, for having done so. Each individual's character flaws, or foibles, are believably redeemed by story's close. Even Zoey's con artist father, accedes to his former wife's and daughter's best interests, when all is said and done; which by itself, is remarkable and could have had a false note about it, but does not have. This choice redeems him in the viewer's mind and heart, although not mending the marriage. It appears to be an uncharacteristically unselfish act on his part. What a perfect gift to receive from a film. And, no matter how often I view this story, it is always fresh and true. I have yet to find a scene, in which a foot is put wrong, throughout it's entirety. I can't recall possessing the same opinion about other Holiday pictures.

I can, now honestly say, that no longer is my heart on loan to this remarkable story. It has captured me altogether in it's lovely spell.

"Borrowed Hearts" is unique and excellent, in a class by itself. It is a true gem of a film!!!

It is, but a short step, from the sublime to the ridiculous!

Love this movie. Kind of disappointed that the movie is not on Lifetime, Hallmark or ABC Family Channel's Christmas movie lineup.

I like the various comments on angels in the movie. Like "angels wear their wings on the inside so they look like us." Del Campo is a very subtle angel.
