My favorite quote is from the scene when Nimi and Matt are having dinner and have reached a pivotal point in their relationship where she needs a commitment and Matt feels she wants to bury her life under an avalanche of duty and obligation and Nimi tells him:
"You don't get it do you? It isn't duty that binds people...it's love".

After Nimi tells Matthew the story about the foolish antelope, and Matthew ask her about the constipated reverend? Nimi, ask Matthew, "HAVE YOU NEVER NEEDED A SECOND CHANCE?", and Matthew replies that I try to always get it right the first time. Matthew never knew that he would need several "second chances" from Nimi.
There were many memorable quotes in this movie, but one of my top picks is when Mama Fola stops by Nimi and Nene's apartment to discuss certain rumors that she's 'heard' about Nimi and Matthew. As the women slip into their dueling proverbs, Nimi has broken up with Matthew, and on her way back to the apartment, Madam Rosa and Sugar (?) intercept her.
When she makes it through the door, she and Sugar have switched outfits, so Nimi is now in a traditional wrap, rather than a red dress.
Protecting Nimi from Mama Fola, Nene drops my favorite line to Mama Fola:
"The snake will let you pass this time. But be careful not to go that way again."
Go mom!! Way to stick up for your 'foolish antelope'!
