Where Exactly Does This Film Fit In The PM Series?

The thing that makes it confusing is that Leech Woman returns in this movie because she was destroyed in PM 2.

Was this movie intended to be a prequel of a sort, happening sometime in between 1 and 2 or was it just a careless mistake done by the people making the movie?

The movie was intended to be a sequel. Some fans figure the best explaination is it's a prequel due to the return of Leech-Woman, and absence of Torch and Decapitron. That would mean it takes place shortly after 1 and shortly before 2, which I have to admit doesn't quite fit. The puppets were bought in an auction, most likely sometime after 5.

Storywise, the best explanation is either Rick Myers or Magrew found and repaired her off screen. That's my thought.

In Puppet Master: The Legacy you find out Maclain was searching for the puppets, and Rick had given them away to Peter Hertz, AKA, Eric Weiss. Aside from showing some footage, LEGACY ignores CURSE almost all together. They mention nothing of it being a prequel, and ignore it making it seem like 6 never happened at all, and 8 took place right after 5. Maclain shot and killed Rick Myers shortly before the events of LEGACY.

Leech-Woman returned because she was the director's favorite puppet. Producer Charles Band didn't care if it made sense or not.

Yeah, Puppet Master also has so many plot holes that it gets too many to count...

My favorite one is how Andre Toulon commits suicide in 1939. Two movies later he is fighting Nazis in the 1940s.

And about Torch and Decapitron. Storywise, maybe Magrew ran out of the fluid and couldn't revive Torch. And Decapitron, maybe they only bring him alive to fight powerful enemies.

Or they're still in the Bodega Bay Inn somewhere. Who knows really.

Real Reason - ran out of funds to support the special effects that go with those puppets; such as fire and lightning bolts.

in all, what order would you say the puppet masters come in,

PP III is the first film, and the new one coming out will be the second. then the 1st is 3, 2 is actually 4. Dont count 6 cause doesnt fit with 4 or 5 to 8. all ya can say is WHAT'D YA MEAN....

You forgot 7. Or you mean it doesn't fit because of thast scene in 2? I prefered the backstory of RETRO more than that one scene honestly.

I said it on one of the other boards but McGrew had to of had Decapitron.

He turns Tank into a puppet via the electrical method, Decapitron is the only one that works like that.

My thought being he used Decapitron to learn from Toulon and then shut him down and he kept Torch down simply because he has a flamethrower and can do damage from a distance. He had Six-Shooter up but I doubt his guns were kept loaded all the time. He had the six in a cage but just in case they turned on him they couldn't do damage unless he was right up close.

I know they later trusted him more, but I feel he most have been afraid if he kept them in a cage.

While I'm fine with just rolling with it. I don't lose sleep over it.

But it seriously wouldn't hurt to drop Curse like PMvsDT. As Rick giving them to Peter makes it as if Curse would have to be earlier.

Either potential placing seems to make some things makes sense and but opens up more issues. Seriously can this thing just be like a bad nightmare Jester was having or something?

I really prefer the idea Six comes after five with Rick fixing Leech Woman and McGrew kept Torch and Decapitron down. Seems the more fulfilling option.

But then if wiki is my guide to having not watched Legacy in forver, LW isn't on the table in Legacy right, so if we ignore curse and go from Rick to Peter, we can say that she's still dead, and only need to question where was Torch and Decapitron.

Although seriously I wouldn't mind modern sequels where we just have a new puppet master find and fix the old ones that got damaged as such.
