Cute old-feel Christmassy rom-com with a twist + handsome Campbell Scott

This sort of independent films is an acquired taste, but for film buffs this movie is a hidden gem! The kind of comedy in Hi-Life is situational, witty and buffoonish, with a simplicity that is hard to find in nowadays' comedies. The late 90s New York social scene revolving around neighborhood bars is captured in the eve of Christmas shopping season, but without the clicheic glamour of big department stores or busy streets like in those old movies with Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan or John Cusack. The plot is simple and linear, and the 'action' is mostly carried by dashing bartender Ray (Campbell Scott) whose sister seems to be in financial trouble, so he reluctantly accepts to help her. His bold British sidekick that he eventually falls for is one of the upsides of the movie, and the acid back-and-forth between them adds the right amount of spiciness and romanticism to a simple 'treasure hunt' task that this movie is based on.
As a huge fan of Campbell Scott, this movie was an utter delight!
