i think whenever people see the names Trey Parker and Matt Stone, they assume it's going to be unbearably offensive. only reason i can think of. this movie was really funny.

People underrate Trey and Matt. Baseketball is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen because it didn't take itself seriously. Trey and Matt have even made fun of the movie in a South Park episode.

People don't underrate them. I could be classified as 'people' and so do all my entourage, and we all *beep* worship them as the most outrageously funny thing on earth since the Monty Pythons.

in that episode of south park when stan says that they should get a refund for watching passion of the christ because it worked before when they wanted a refund for baseketball

I truly can't see why the score is this low. I can't think of anything in this film i didnt like. Warts on Your D**k was one of the funniest songs ever.

This is probably one of the most hilarious movies ever made, but as far as IMDB goes, we should consider 6.2 a solid rating for this flick.

Christmas with the Cranks? Wow, YOU DUMB! Can't you tell the difference between a solid spoof and a really bad holiday comedy? Guess not, YOU DUMB!

It is by no means a great movie, but as far as spoofs go, it is solid. Not great, but solid. Honestly though, I cant believe it is rated as high as it is because IMDB ratings are typically very hard on silly movies like this.

One of my all-time favourite 'dumb' comedies with Dumb and Dumber and Happy Gilmore. It should be at 7 at least.

can u name a movie that is still funny TODAY? monty python MASH and Ghostbusters i mean come on... they arent even close to making me laugh now a days and shrek?LOL!! ur 6 right? Office Space wasnt funny AT ALL my god i saw that movie thinking its gonna be the funniest movie ever, only had one good part and thats the END CREDITS i think u should have your accound deleted

I've seen every movie on that list, and there are some real stinkers on there.

Annie Hall? YAWN!!! Talk about a self congratulatory overly aware, incoherent, trying to take too many directions at once clusterf#@k of a movie. The famous cocaine scene, haha, SO FUNNY!(sarcasm) that scene gets so much attention, yet it is no better than your average Zucker Brothers gag. Did I mention pretentious? It is not a good comedy. Hell, it isnt even a good drama. It is just another masturbatory Woody Allen movie. And yes, I get it, it points out the vagaries of relationships, but I get enough of that in real life; I want to be entertained. Oh, it won an oscar, we all know how much that matters. If you are gonna pick a woody movie, going bananas is the one to pick. Sleeper sucked too.

And shrek sucks.

Good call on Galaxy Quest, noone every watched that movie and when I mention the title, noone will watch it.

Out of all those movies you listed, only The Jerk, Airplane!, Animal House, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and maybe Zoolander even qualify to be listed in the same sentence as BASEketball when comparing comedic value.

And the Holy Grail has been so worn out by people who know its every line as to be annoying anymore.

To the other guy: Role Models made this look like a masterpiece? This movie is a masterpiece.

Movies that might be funnier, beginning to end: Rat Race, The Man Who Knew Too Little. VERY short list. And Rat Race doesn't stand up to repeated viewings as well.

I gave BASEketball a 9/10, and there are only a handful of movies, in any genre, that I've given higher ratings to. It's not a cheapie.

I'm surprised the rating is as high as it is. I'm a big fan Parker & Stone, but this movie is painfully unfunny. It tries, probably too hard, but just doesn't succeed.

Unfunny? Hardly.
Accept it for what it is (low-brow humour, but cleverly done) and it is most definitely funny. I'm surprised it didn't get more attention than it did.
Perhaps it was pigeon-holed as just being a movie from "those South Park guys", and might have done better if it had more bankable stars, but I think that was part of what made it work: you didn't recognize the two leads from a bunch of other things. (at least not their faces.)
But other than that, there were some many recognizable faces in supporting roles, many playing themselves...I thought it was hilarious.

This movie had some funny scenes and a few good laughs, but it wasn't as entertaining or funny as anything from South Park, Team America or Trey and Matt's other live action movies from that time such as Orgazmo, which I thought was hysterical. I can see why this one only has a 6.2 rating.

And by David Zucker's standards, this one definitely falls below Airplane! and Naked Gun, but is better than anything he's done in the past decade.
