Stuff happening on screen because movie.

OMG, I watched this because I've been reading a ton of things about the development of Star Citizen and wanted to experience a fully realized product from the mastermind behind both projects.......

I am not impressed.

I did not know WTF was supposed to be happening from on moment to the next. It felt like I was was watching all of of the cut scenes (out takes?) from a computer game without the satisfaction having actually had any gameplay.

I think the general story was about an existential threat to humanity told in the medium of a load of terribly cliched tropes pulled from any number of classic war films and blockbuster action flicks(Das Boot, Topgun, Tora! Tora! Tora!).

The worst part was that the alien threat of the Kilrathi, who had been the faceless adversary for the the majority of the film suddenly make a belated entrance with a few half hearted, subtitled cut scenes that offer no insight to their motivation or casus belli, plus they looked *beep*

On the basis of this film I'm so glad I've not put any money into Star Citizen. I would recommend this as required viewing for anyone thinking about pledging money to this project or buying even more imaginary spaceships for a game that's looking less likely to ever be released by the day.

Total *beep* mess.

Hahahaha. This is some of the worst, most ridiculous logic I have ever heard from someone.

For starters, Star Citizen is a space MMO that is heavily influenced by the old Wing Commander video games, which were some of the earliest and most successful space fighter PC games available in the 90's (1990 was the first, IIRC).

This movie, Wing Commander, is a video-game adaptation of that series. Star Citizen has no direct correlation other than influence, and the influence comes from the video games, no the movie.

As you did say "I did not know WTF was supposed to be happening from one moment to the next", then I can easily understand your confusion ... I mean this was one of the easiest movies in the world to follow, so if you couldn't follow it I can see why this loose connection between two separate franchises separated by decades is overwhelming you.

Wing Commander is a movie. Not a great one. A low budget one. And not great by the standards of 1999, but still a fun and enjoyable flick if you don't take it too seriously (which no one should, especially when viewing it in the year 2016+).

Star Citizen is a game that has nothing to do with this franchise other than influence. It's a game being made in 2016 off crowd-funding. Whether Star Citizen succeeds or fails, it has nothing to do with Freddie Jr, Lillard, Burrows, and the cast and production crew of this film.

Sorry.

I guess you're right when you say there is no correlation between this and Star Citizen. Chris Roberts managed to finish this project, what are the chances that he'll be able to complete Star Citizen before it collapses into a huge steaming pile of wreckage? Amirite?

Did you catch the farce that Citizen con was?

What a crock of shit. So basically this movie is impervious to real criticism because it shouldn't be taken seriously. And if you take it seriously then it follows that it must be "fun and enjoyable"

What a dumbass. Just say you like a movie despite it being bad and move on. Everyone likes SOME bad movies. Don't try to turn it around on people with actual good taste

Sorry.
