#1 animated film on iMDB!

As I'm from Hungary, I'm really happy that this classic film can be the best rated out of all the animated films on imdb. I'm also really glad that "Macskafogó" is not far behind. It's really worth to see both if you have the opportunity, and it's a must for fans of animated films.

That's all I wanted to say :) Take care.

I also think it's great that this film is finally getting more recognition on this site--especially since I've finally been able to watch an uncut version of the film (in English too! an uncut version does exist!). Now, if only I could track down Cat City. . . ;)

There are two versions on YouTube: one subbed and one dubbed. You can just pick one and enjoy!

I leaned on the wall - the wall leaned away.

what is this uncut version? and how does it differ?

I'm from former USSR. And as I remember Vuk was a huge hit in USSR, but much more hit was Macskafogó, which is my favorite animation ever! I am 27 now, and still love this movie and watch it every year!

Loved this as a child. I was 4 years old when got this movie on vhs dubbed in Finnish. Unfortunately I have lost the tape :(

I'm from Hungary too and I grew up on the book. Still shamelessly crying at Karak's death. Such a sad scene.

And so many hilarious and heartwarming scenes.

reply

Yes, Karak's death is sad indeed. It's a great movie (I'm glad I still have my VHS copy).
Unfortunately one hardly ever gets to see Hungarian animated movies on German/Austrian television. I've only ever seen two Hungarian ones and I loved them both as a child. The one was "Vuk" and the other one "Lúdas Matyi" - both IMHO much better than most Disney films.

I found this film with English subtitles available to buy on this site http://czechmovie.com/e/hungarian-films-49/
