Lousy director !!

I have seen some pretty bad movies wasted by incompetent directors, and Rogue Trader is one of them. And still this film had a pretty daring and hilarious premisse (based on true events), but it's just wasted with bad acting, bad scenes, bad timing, bad dialogues and half-ass story-telling. This movie should have been a second Wallstreet! I am waiting for a remake ! It shouldn't be hard to do better.

Man, Bubba-ho... you really need to learn how people work. They burst into giggles coz of the stress and nerves they were under, they just snapped. I thought that part was brilliantly done.

But what if it wasn't like that in real life, its almost kinda offensive to turn one mans story into some nail-biting, stomach churning roller coaster ride when it just wasnt that way. I'm not saying this is a 10/10 movie, but i would give it around 7-8/10 based mostly on the fantastic performance by Ewan Mcgregor.

I thought the end was fantastic, the way he just owned up like that, fed up of running, hiding, he faced it like a man, not a rabbit. I too got this free with the Daily Mail, and yeah, i can see why they were giving it away, but it was still a very good movie, if you seriously thought it should be like how you said it should... you really dont know what makes good cinema. What's next, have their airport trolley explode in a fiery blaze???

"Love...? ... Is that why he's so strong?"

I probably would... if my nerves cracked like they did with him

I have to admit I did not know about the fall of the Barrings Bank. I bought Rogue Trader because I am a fan of Ewan Mcgregor. He did an excellent potrayal of Nick Leeson. [I read that he wanted to play him in the middle] I also read the book by Nick Leeson, and it was very interesting. He sure made a mess of everything, but the bank was so greedy that they didn't have any checks and balances. Nothing excuses Nick from what he did, but they [the bank] sure were not on the ball. I don't think this movie had a bad director OR bad acting. I enjoyed the movie and thought Ewan was great,as ususal.

Like Wallstreet is a story that has been cheapen with slick entertainment... Wallstreet is so much better because it had good direction, good acting, good dialogues and the rest follows. I am just saying this story could been told a lot better. It looks clunky.

This director has directed Pascali's Island, so he's not completely a lousy director. But this film was not very well made. But its subject matter kept me interested.

I'm wondering how an "incompetent" director could WASTE a bad movie, except perhaps by not touching it... Over.
